Finally, that infuriating music was gone. Tim knew that he was never going to be able to listen to that song without smelling smoke. It wasn't a good sign that this 'game' had just started and not only had two people already lost their lives, but Tim was no closer to finding out where the bomb or the hostage were. He had to be more careful. There was no way he could continue this nightmare without having a better idea of what he was dealing with. They key to having the upper hand was having as much data as possible to work with, and right now the Joker definitely was winning in that regard.
With the fire department at work and the building cleared of residents, Tim retreated from the scene. He retrieved his grappling gun and fired it so that it would bring him up to the roof of one of the nearest buildings. There were actually three locations he needed to figure out, though the Joker was only interested in him finding two. His fingers moved back in front of the tablet's camera as he landed on the rooftop, and with his now empty hand, he reached into his belt for his compact computer. One advantage that he had over the Joker was that he was definitely better with a computer. It shouldn't take long to trace where the Joker's signal was coming from and determine his location. There was nothing he could do with such information yet - showing up there didn't mean the bomb couldn't still go off - but it would probably come in handy at one point or another.
With his own computer set up behind the tablet, Tim crouched down on the roof and uncovered the camera again. "Okay," Tim said flatly. "But first, I want to know something. Tell me what happens at the end of each round - tell me, not show me, or I'm done playing." If there was one thing predictable about the Joker, it was that he was notoriously infuriated when his games were rejected. While it was unlikely that he would relinquish full control, there was a good chance he would be willing to offer up some information for the sake of continuing the game. Tim didn't need him to hand over the reins in one fell swoop, but little by little, Tim was going to take the controls away from him. The trace he had working now would help with that. Even if worse came to worst, Tim would be able to find the Joker at the end of all of this.
