Players: Deathstroke, Apache Chief
Location(s): Skeleton Canyon, Arizona
Plot Summary: Slade is hired to kill a White Lantern!
It wasn't rare for Slade to get a phone call from a shadowy figure. Actually, most potential employers had a thing for being secret and "ominous." It didn't matter to the assassin however. If his employers wanted to be mysterious, that was their prerogative, not Deathstroke's. So, when a mysterious number called his "work" phone. He wasn't surprised. He was just sitting in his mansion, sipping on a bit of tea. He answered the phone with the same cool tone he always spoke with.
"Yes?"
"I have a job for you."
"Most people do when they call. What's the job?"
"I'm curious about these new White Lanterns. I've only ever seen them die with the aid of Black Rings."
"And you want me to kill one."
"Spot on, Mr. Deathstroke! Spot on!"
"How much?"
"I'll give you a blank check if you succeed."
"Not very confident in my abilities then. Very well, who's my target?"
"Apache Chief. His general location will be sent to you via e-mail."
"I'll be sure to bring a big stick. Goodbye." With that, the assassin hung up the phone and put his index and middle fingers on his forehead. Now, how would he go about this...
Three Weeks Later
Deathstroke scanned the Canyon with a pair of binoculars. From a distance, he couldn't find his target. A shame, he had hoped to get a bead on him before the fight started. The file on Apache Chief was fairly in depth. He seemed like just another mystical type, like Raven of the Titans or Zatanna. Granted, the file said nothing about whatever abilities a White Lantern would have. Slade wasn't worried though. He could handle whatever the Chief could dish out.
Slade made sure to arm himself with more than his standard arsenal. He added in several grenades and a one-shot missile launcher. If he couldn't gut Apache Chief, he would make sure there wasn't enough of him to identify. Slade grunted as he stood from his crouching position and made his way toward the Canyon.
It was surprisingly mild out. It was around eighty degrees, but for Arizona, that was great weather. That was weather you took your kids to the park in. Slade briefly wondered what Rose and Jericho were doing. Probably gallivanting about with the Titans. Good, that was the safest place they could be. Despite the animosity the Titans had for Slade, Deathstroke knew that the Titans gave Rose and Jericho the one thing he could never give them: a family that loves them.
BUT, Slade could brood about that when he didn't have a job to do. Slade neared the edge of the canyon and hooked his rappel rope to a large rock. Then, he began his descent into the canyon. He tried his best to remain silent, but the sound of boots hitting against rock was hard to mask without aid of hypersonic devices. Or Journey concerts.
Slade hit the ground with a thud and un-clipped the rappel from his outfit. Slade immediately began searching for the man. Again, it was harder than it looked. How hard would it be to find one person in canyon? Theoretically, he should be the only sentient being within thousands of yards. Slade searched for several minutes before discarding the launcher. It was weighing him down too much. Then, he resumed his search.
"Harder to find than Batman..."
