From the streets of Detroit John was driven to always be a better person. He sees the world from the core outward, much like a building. When it comes to his actions or mentalities he has been molded to be a marine; Structure, rules, regulations, and training. John takes the death of his wife extremely hard, so much so that he dwells on it often as a reminder of how he failed. Something he is driven to not do again.

John is a accomplished architect having had a hand in building the new Hall of Justice and the JLA Watchtower as well as rebuilding Coast City. He was also pivotal in renovating the estate of the late Wesley Dodds into the JSA Museum. Skilled with multiple Firearms (primary is the sniper rifle), Hand-to-Hand Combat (Advanced training through the Marines and Green Lantern Corps), and has Indomitable Will.

Without the Green Lantern Ring the user is suspitable to any normal effects of it's species. Green Lantern Ring weaknesses include Mental Instability Protocol: Drug use, neural interference, vertigo or other forms of mental incapacitation can render the wearer unable to use their ring. Rookie lanterns are more susceptible to fear and thus vulnerable to the color yellow. Recharge Protocol, the rings needed to be charged after a period of one planetary axial rotation (dependent on each ring's location), regardless of how often it was used. Currently, the rings retain a charge until they run out of power. This variability ensures that the wearer takes great effort to keep it charged. If a vibration from a device is set to a certain speed, it causes the ring to function only in miniature, so that if the user wanted to make hands to grab something, the hands would be too small to grab it. A clock has been seen to do this. Red Power Rings can dissolve the energy from a Green Power Ring.
H I S T O R Y+[/b]
John Stewart was an architect who was selected by the Guardians of the Universe as Hal Jordan's backup after Guy Gardner was seriously injured in a disaster. For a while he filled in for Hal as Green Lantern when he was unavailable, including some missions of the Justice League. After Jordan gave up being Green Lantern, the Guardians selected Stewart to full time duty. Stewart filled that role for some years, during which time he married Katma Tui, the Green Lantern of the planet Korugar. After Tui’s murder, Stewart became the administrator of the “Mosaic World,” a patchwork of communities from multiple planets that had been brought to Oa by an insane Guardian. From this position, Stewart eventually ascended to the level of a Guardian, which he later relinquished.
During the coming years John played key roles in all the major Green Lantern Events that would come to pass. In the Sinestro Corps War he fought right along side his fellow Earth Lanterns to defend Earth. While the War of Light was starting the Guardians approached him about a new division known as the Alpha Lanterns, to which he declined. He joined the Guardians on a trip to fend off Larfleeze. After the battle he was confronted by Fatality, who was now a Star Sapphire, telling him that he needed to forgive himself for Xanshi's destruction. When Blackest Night descends upon the universe, John is back at the grave site of Xanshi. The planet gets revived and heads towards Earth. John teaming up with other Corps members they successfully defeated all the Black Lanterns and Xanshi. Once this event was over he found himself being huneted by Alpha Lanterns that had been reprogrammed by Hank Henshaw. He is later saved by Natu and Kyle, to which they team up and defeat the Cyborg Superman.

There was a time not too long ago that John Stewart blamed himself for a great many things. The Death of his wife Katma Tui, the destruction of the planet Xanshi, and even the more minuscule things like everyone life as a Green Lantern not being good enough. Those failures were looming large in the here and now for this soldier, because he was in a battle for his life against those that use fear as their weapon. Fear was a Green Lanterns greatest weakness. Something that any Lantern had to overcome to be a truly great one.[/i] he thought to himself as he punched his right hand into the ground to support his weight as he brought his knees underneath of him. "I don't know what you used on this planet, but I will set them free from your tyranny," he stated boldly as he raised his ring hand swiftly into a fist generating a energy blast toward the Yellow Lantern of fear. "Foolish Earthman, you do not understand that I am saving this planet from itself. A less in order was needed, order brought about by fear," Sinestro sternly replied back as he created a half sphere to block the attack.
"Get up Stewart, I wish to end your life properly," Stated the smug voice of Sinestro the leader of the Sinestro Corps. The villainous leader was hovering over the fallen carcass of the noble Green lantern with a premature sound of victory in his voice. Focus John, you are better than this. Analyze what is going on and turn the tide... this planet is depending on you...
Looking around at his surroundings John planned out his next move. "Those led to order by fear eventually learn to overcome said fear and fight back," John replied back as he morphed a multiple missile launcher from his ring unleashing a wave of missiles at the villain. Sinestro blocked the with relative ease. In this moment a energy double of John burst through the cloud of smoke created from the missile attack moments earlier to strike Sinestro in the face. "Sending a copy? are you that Stupid Lantern? I thought you would be more of a challenge than this..." he boasted as he speared through the energy clone with a sharp Kougarian shaped energy blade. This however was the down fall of the villain, because John took the time during the smoke screen and energy clone attack to set up a distance away to line up a shot with a sniper rifle. He was not going to kill the man, but there was no harm in putting him down for a while. Taking aim and firing the bullet travel quickly bursting through the energy clone, which was gripping onto Sinestro's arm with his remaining energy, hitting the mad man in the shoulder. Falling toward the ground the body of Sinestro was limp as John flew up above it, "Shouldn't boast until all threats are eliminated"
