Dinah is seemingly invincible. While physically she is nothing of the sort, the woman doesn't appear to even comprehend the idea of giving up, no matter what might be thrown her way. Even when in great physical or emotional pain, she refuses to back down. She has spent her life training both her body and, more importantly, her mind. She has the remarkable ability to overcome just about anything that comes her way, no matter how terrible the odds may be. This quality, among others, has made her an inspiring and efficient leader. Her confidence is undeniable, though not easily mistaken for arrogance. Dinah is perfectly aware of who she is, warts and all, and accepts herself as such. She does not allow for past mistakes to hold her back, nor does she judge herself for them; instead, she takes what she can from her experiences and learns from them in order to become even stronger. She knows what her flaws are and, rather than denying them, continuously strives for self-improvement rather than self-deprecation.
Just as rigid as her personal strength is her moral. Dinah will always, regardless of the consequences, do what she believes is right. She has been raised with a great sense of right and wrong and is uncompromising in her beliefs. Witnessing injustices horribly upsets her, and anyone foolish enough to try and stop her from doing something about it is quickly tossed aside. Dinah cares deeply for those around her and is something of a maternal figure to many, whether they want it or not. She is protective of her friends, teammates, and family, and would gladly walk across hot coals while being chased by an angry grizzly bear if it would somehow guarantee their safety. Though her dedication to her loved ones often tempts her to lead with her heart, she is generally capable of balancing her emotions with logic in order to decide what the right move is. That being said, she is far from cold and calculating; she wears her heart on her sleeve at all times and doesn't bother trying to hide it. Family and friends are the most important thing in this world to her, and she is determined to make sure they always know that.
When the time comes, however, Dinah is serious, focused, and unrelentingly ferocious. She is one of the top martial artists in the world, and this is no accident. Her drive is almost unmatched; she can never practice enough or push herself too hard, as far as she is concerned. She is a skilled tactician and a dangerous opponent to anyone she faces. Outside of battle, though, Dinah is rarely seen without a smile on her face. Good-natured and with a healthy sense of humor, it is not uncommon for her to be found poking fun at one of her friends or being silly with a child. She can be sarcastic and quick-witted, a bit goofy at times and always ready to laugh at a moment's notice. Her humor often takes on a flirtatious edge, though unless aimed at a certain bearded archer, this is typically only in a friendly, playful manner rather than anything serious. Overall, she tries not to take life too seriously unless the situation itself is serious.

Canary Cry: Dinah's sole metahuman ability is her sonic cry, which can reach up to 300 decibels (enough to make even someone nearby bleed from the ears). This allows her to stun or damage humans or objects, even to the point of shattering metal. She also has extraordinary control over her vocal chords and can generate or mimic any sound.
Expert Martial Artist: Dinah is among the top martial artists on the planet, shown to be able to keep up with the likes of Lady Shiva and Deathstroke. She was originally trained by Wildcat, but has also studied with Wonder Woman and Richard Dragon, to name a few. Along with boxing, Dragon Style Kung Fu and Amazonian martial arts, she has mastered all of the following martial arts styles: Muay Thai, Capoeira, Krav Maga, Hapkaido, Savate, Judo, Aikido, Jujutsu, Wing Chun, and Tae Kwon Do.

Fighting crime is in Dinah's blood. Her father was a Gotham City police officer, and her mother was the original Black Canary. Despite her mother forbidding her from following in her footsteps and fighting crime, at the age of nineteen Dinah began to train with one of her mother's friends, Ted Grant (aka Wildcat). Following her training, she adopted the mantle of Black Canary and began to fight crime. Not long after, she became one of the founding members of the Justice League of America (the name of which was her idea as a nod to the Justice Society). Here, she met Oliver Queen/Green Arrow, and the two became romantically involved after developing a close friendship. When he left the JLA to focus on his responsibilities to Star City, Dinah resigned from the League as well, partially due to the fact that her mother had recently lost her battle with cancer.
After operating in Star City for a time, Dinah and Ollie moved to Seattle, where they opened up a floral shop. Despite Ollie expressing his desire to marry Dinah and have children, she refused due to her belief that their lives were too dangerous for such a thing. She was quickly proven correct; she was kidnapped shortly afterward by a drug dealer she had been investigating and was brutally tortured at his hands. As a result, she lost both her Canary Cry and her ability to have children. Ollie rescued her and killed the drug dealer, and the two grew closer in the following months as Dinah recovered in the hospital and attended counseling. She continued to fight crime upon healing, but broke up with Ollie after catching him cheating with his younger assistant.
A while later, Dinah was invited to join the Birds of Prey by Oracle, and she gladly accepted. At this time, she abandoned her blonde wig and chose instead to bleach her naturally black hair instead. Following a battle with Ra's al Ghul, Dinah submerged herself in a Lazarus Pit, and her ability to bear children as well as her Canary Cry were restored. While trading lives with Lady Shiva in order to further her training, Dinah discovered a young Vietnamese girl named Sin who was being groomed as Shiva's replacement. Dinah rescued and subsequently adopted the girl. She also rekindled her relationship with a resurrected Green Arrow after witnessing how much he had changed over the previous year. When Ollie proposed, however, she refused to give him an answer right away. It was only after he was forced to fake Sin's death in order to save her, at the risk of losing Dinah, did she realize just how much he had changed and agreed to marry him.
The two were married and worked together for some time, but after Prometheus destroyed Star City and Dinah discovered that Ollie murdered him in retaliation, she returned her wedding ring to him. Since then, she has resumed her role as a member of the Birds of Prey.

"I have a wedgie," Dinah whispered, knowing that her earrings would relay the message. A sigh came through from the other line. "What? I do." Even years after she had started wearing the leotard and fishnets, she still found herself occasionally marveling at the costume design. It wasn't that she minded it on a day-to-day basis - what girl didn't like to feel a little sexy? - but when she had to sit on top of a roof for hours on end, sometimes it got a little annoying.
"Just stay focused, Dinah." "I'm sorry, have you ever tried to focus with a bunch of leather stuffed up your butt?" Dinah grumbled. "Trust me, it's not pleasant." All joking aside, her blue eyes had yet to move from the loading dock upon which she was spying. The shipment was supposed to have come in almost twenty minutes ago, and she would be lying if she wasn't getting a little impatient. Patience wasn't her number one virtue, especially including the wedgie factor. Dinah shifted slightly as one of her feet began to fall asleep. This was supposed to be a fairly straightforward mission: hide out, kick some people around when they showed up, and question them once they were teetering on the edge of conscious and not. It wasn't rocket science, and while she was keeping her attention on the matter at hand, she felt free to be a bit of a Chatty Kathy while Oracle. If that overly-smart redhead wanted to send her out on her own for boring stake-outs, she had better be prepared to provide some damn entertainment.
A large truck rattled slowly over to the docks, and Dinah frowned. "They're here, O." "Good," Oracle replied over the line. "Think you'll be able to handle this, what with your wedgie issue?" The blonde scoffed and cast a disgruntled glance sideways, as if the other woman could somehow catch the look she was giving to her earring communicator. "Please. I'm a professional." When the truck parked and several men, all matching in what she assumed was supposed to be a very intimidating dress code, filed out of the vehicle. Dinah stood, the breeze from the water catching her jacket and long hair. "That being said, mind shutting off any security cameras in the area?" she added. "I don't really want to show my rear to the whole world, y'know?" A scoff echoing her earlier one reached her ears. "Come on, like there's anyone who hasn't seen your butt by now."
Dinah paused for a moment, then scowled again. Babs kind of had a point. "Has anyone ever told you that you're really annoying when you're right? Which is, and I hate to admit this, way too often?" she asked as she jumped off the side of the shipping container and landed with her boots on one man's shoulder. Oracle began to speak up again, but Dinah cut her off as she brought her knee into another man's gut. "Shush your smartypants for a second. I'm doing superhero things." And darn if she didn't do it so well, she decided upon taking out one of her opponents via bashing him in the back of the head with his own gun.
