Clark Kent is a country farmboy and as such is well mannered, respectable, humble, generous, and well meaning. He has a fascination with learning, helping, and finding causes to get behind; thus many view him as a nerd, his appearance and introvert personality doesn't help much. Clark is always friendly and though he can take subtle shots at anyone who thinks they're better than others he isn't one for confrontations.
As Superman Kal is pretty much the same. He still values truth, trust, and generosity but as the world's most well known hero he is much more confrontational. While remaining fair he cannot allow villains and criminals run about without being checked. All life is valued in Superman's eyes and he does his best to protect all forms of it, even preventing the deaths of well known murderers when he needs to. Superman has a strong sense of community and when he builds friendships they are most often lifelong relationships.

Born on the doomed planet Krypton Kal-El was rocketed away by his super scientist father Jor-El and his mother Lara. He crash landed some time later on Earth smack in the middle of nowhere, commonly referred to as Smallville. Young infant Kal-El was found by Martha and Jonathan Kent, a well meaning couple who could not have children of their own. Adopting Kal, they named him Clark and began to instill in him true humanity while also helping him adjust to the powers the Earth's yellow sun gave him.
Clark was an awkward boy, often told to hold back thanks to the great powers he and no one else had. He could not do many of the things the rest of the young Smallville kids could do and so he was made to feel like an outsider early on in his life. As an adult it didn't get much better but Clark decided it was a good thing to up the awkwardness when he became Superman; to keep his two identities as far separated as possible.
Now he is an acclaimed reporter for the Daily Planet as Clark Kent, and one of the world's greatest most influential heroes as Superman.

Distinctive red fabric whipped in that air as the Man of Steel flew through the skies of Zimbabwe. Superman did not spend all of his time within the city limits of Metropolis, nor did he confine himself to the borders of the United States. For there was crime, treachery, and injustice all across the globe and Superman was determined to let none of it escape his ever vigilant cause. Those in Zimbabwe looked to the heavens up at Superman with the same levels of adoration and respect as those in his own country; the shield on his chest transcending all barriers, borders, and languages.
Using his super vision, both telescopic and x-ray at the same time, Superman surveyed cities he flew over. So far there seemed to be no trouble or particular issues in the African country. Though this made things somewhat boring for Superman it also brought him great peace, there would be no greater day than the day when Superman was no longer needed. Unfortunately it was not yet such a day. Kal-El's forehead sloped downward, his brow furrowing, as he neared the border of Zimbabwe and Mozambique. There was some sort of unrest going on.
<"You will not be allowed to pass.">
<"This is bull%&^*! Why not?">
<"Under orders of the President we will not allow passage of rebel sympathizers.">
<"The rebels pose no threat to Zimbabwe!">
<"That remains unproven, and as such you will not be allowed to cross this border.">
Using his superhearing Superman heard the two men at the border speaking in Shona and Swahili but much travel around the world allowed him to understand them perfectly. The traveler still standing in Mozambique had a large entourage with him and a number of officers began to collect around the lead border patrolmen who spoke with the man. The officers held their weapons in hand, the travelers kept theirs concealed. Spotting these weapons is what prompted Superman to fly in closer and land right in between both countries. <"Perhaps a third party can help in this dispute."> Superman arrived with a smile for both sides. "Superman! You speak Swahili?" "Oh good, you speak English. How about you?" He addressed his question to the officer who simply nodded.
"These men cannot enter our country, Superman. With all due respect, there's nothing you can do to change that." Superman frowned slightly. He understood he was in another country (two actually) and he could not interfere with how they operated but he hoped that he could at least keep the peace here. "He accuses us of being rebel supporters, but only because the rebels need support! The rebels' only problem is with warlords, Zimbabwe has no reason to fear them." "You fool, we don't fear any of you! Our President is much too wise to appear to be a supporter of crazy and reckless rebels. If you wish to support them that's your business, but don't expect to pass here."
As the two men argued Superman's blue eyes scanned over the men and women who traveled in jeeps leaving Mozambique. With x-ray vision he inspected the travelers and found two of them injured, one who looked gravely so. "Arguing isn't going to make anything change. But it is important that you know they have two injured people traveling with them, and the woman looks to need a hospital immediately." The Swahili speaking man stared at Superman in surprise while the officers at the border exchanged quick glances. "There are hospitals in Mozam-" "You and I both know it isn't nearly close enough. I understand you have your orders but if you do not let them cross into Zimbabwe there is a good chance this woman will die."
A short moment of silence passed before one of the officers finally spoke up. "Not to question your sincerity Superman but none of us have seen this injured woman, and even if we had we still aren't permitted to allow entry of rebel sympathizers. I'm...I'm sorry." Superman had hoped his words spoken calmly and truthfully would be enough but he was not so naive that he expected to miraculously turn the situation around so easily. His lips pressed into a hard line as his red cape fluttered in a soft breeze. "I'm sorry too." Superman turned away from the guards and stepped out of Zimbabwe as he approached one of the jeeps in Mozambique.
He opened the door and smiled at the woman inside before gently lifting her from the blood soaked seat. Superman was unsure of how she'd been injured and honestly he had no interest in knowing, all he knew was that she needed help. <"I'll be taking her to the hospital myself. I know this will be a violation of your law and once I have made sure she's been treated and returned to her people I will gladly turn myself in."> Floating a few feet off the ground Superman delivered his intentions in the men's native tongue so that there was no chance of misunderstanding. With the woman cradled in his arms Superman flew off for the nearest Zimbabwean hospital, fully intending to keep his word to the african government.
