Players: Batgirl and Surge (Gemini) Location(s): Gotham City Plot Summary: Gemini in her infinite quest to do something worthwhile, has taken on the persona of a Hero and is helping out around Gotham when she finds herself suddenly joined by a true hero.
Well this was certainly a brand new way to spend an afternoon. Sitting on a rooftop, heavy metal.. things weighing down her arms and a genuine smile on her face. It was a seriously messed up scenario when a villain's happiest moment was pretending to be a hero. Well... she did have something evil on the horizon... nothing particularly over the top, OH MY GOD, Evil... but it's pretty nefarious? She couldn't even convince her inner monologue that it was going to be something to write home about. UGH! It is gonna be something evil! If you'd all shut up and let me think, then I could get it into action!! The birds that were keeping her company had all flown away at the sound of her voice. She was surprised it had taken them that long to leave anyway... she literally had lightning crackling around her hands. The nondescript plan stated that first she was to scout out Gotham's underbelly and find a suitable villain. Which she did, Leslie Willis aka Livewire! (Even though she's not a Gotham Villain). The Second was to create some superhero persona based around said villain and the third was to use that persona... for evil, while masquerading it as good. In the long scheme of things, this plan seemed incredibly convoluted and harebrained but... Gemini was never the smartest bulb in the shed but when it came to having fun, she knew how to party. Speaking of Parties... she stood up and stared down towards the streets as a shot rang out from a bank. Oh boy! Her first crime and she didn't even have to incite it. She smiled and flipped off the building, falling down towards the chaos below... -Inside the Bank- And suddenly... there was Nina. She strode into the Gotham National Bank, complete with tellers and a vault, dressed in what some would call.. inappropriate. It was a short red top that stopped just under her breasts, a skirt that was probably just as short, allowing her just a bit of privacy, black leather boots that rode up just underneath her knees and a large leather coat to hide it all. She looked like she was either a streaker, a prostitute or a thief. The Correct answer would be shown.. very soon. She strode through the room, passing by people searching for wedding bands or studs or.. bling or whatever the fuck they were looking for. She wasn't psychic. She made her way to the back of the shop, towards the high quality stuff. She stopped in front of a case, put her large duffel bag down and rested on the counter, looking calmly at the man behind the counter. Good Evening, Hi. I know you're closing soon but I have a quick question. She smiled and looked around, needing to get a good peripheral since one of her eyes was currently in a room collecting dust somewhere. She pulled a tuft of her hair away from her empty eye socket and smiled at the man. Do you think I could get like.. a Diamond Eyeball or something? My partner doesn't like staring into my hole. The man looked obviously repulsed... good. While he was focused on that implication, she was able to slip her hand inside her coat and grab a hold of her nine. Oh! One more thing.. You're the manager.. right? A shaky nod was all. she. needed. Bang bang. Two shots through his chest and he slumped towards the ground. Followed by a flurry of loud sounds and bursts of fire. Dragon's Breath... a gift from more dangerous minds than her. The 4 other couples in the store and the 3 people helping them were shocked to say the least. First person who makes a run for it gets sh- She fired off a shot which clipped one of the helpers in the knee cap. A quick through and through, he dropped to the ground screaming and howling as the others fell down, scared for their lives. She flinched after the shot and slowly slid the gun back in her coat pocket. Sorry... I meant to shoot at your feet, scare you a little.. it's this depth perception issue. She pulled her bangs away from the hole in her face and smiled apologetically. Like I was saying.. Any of you pricks move, and I'll execute every last one of ya! Now. My friend there with the fire bullets will be here to keep you company. I want everyone to take out their cell phones and wallets and slide them towards her. She watched over the beings on the floor and nodded with a smile. They weren't going anywhere.. She glanced down at her watch and checked the time. 10 minute average response time...Well. I'm gonna start packing up. She hopped away from the counter, zipped open her duffel bag and started busting open glass cases and throwing in jewels. Aaahhhh... We come from the land of the ice and snow.. from the midnight sun where the hot springs blow. Damn song had been stuck in her head all week.. and it was really unprofessional to sing while on a heist, but she made due with what she ha... who the hell? A young woman with bright blue hair in a short shirt and skinny jeans walked into the bank, humming loudly and without rhythm to a song of her own concoction. Jeez... you ladies robbing a bank or something? Cause in another life.. I could totally be into that... She clapped her metal palms together and a spark of electricity grew and began dancing between her fingers. Unfortunately... well I'm taking the Paragon path today... so this might just hurt. She smiled and lunged towards the silent partner, who had taken the chance to point her gun at Gem. Grabbing the barrel, she pulled the girl in front of her like a human shield and charged the gun with electricity. The lightning cooked off the shells inside and blew the gun up in her hands. Yeah... she was gonna lose one of those hands. She turned towards the other one, who seemed to be on the phone? Hey! No calling for help in the lightning round, sugar bear... Lightning Puns? She had this persona for 5 minutes and ALREADY, she was on her game. The woman aimed her gun at Gemini and laughed. Sorry. I do what I want. Before she could even finish her quip, at least six burly gentlemen lined up outside the bank, guns in hand and all trained on Gemini. Now bullets just didn't effect her but... they sure did effect the civilians. Wait wait wait... You don't want to kill all these people! Remember that thing I said about doing what I want? She let one bullet loose towards Gemini and the men outside followed suit.

One pit-stop down an alley and one remarkably fast wardrobe change later, and Steph was sailing through the air, leaping and gliding from building to building until she reached the massive stone edifice of Gotham First National Bank. And, as fate would have it, it looked like she'd arrived just in time as a group of armed men took position in front of the building, raised their weapons, and opened fire... Or rather they would have, Steph silently narrated in her most epic movie trailer voice, if not for the miraculous intervention of Gotham's own Batgirl! Taking a swan dive off of the building across the street, Steph plummeted down toward the would-be bank-robbers. Knowing that she'd never reach them before they squeezed their triggers, the blonde vigilante let fly with a handful of gooperangs, and when the small projectiles struck the criminals' assault rifles, they exploded into a thick, green goop that clogged the weapons up, making them incapable of firing. Then, opening her cape at the last minute to slow her descent, Steph crashed down among the bad guys, knocking three of them to the ground with her landing. A quick spinning kick took out two more, but the last one dropped his now-useless assault rifle and drew a pistol instead, taking aim and opening fire on Batgirl. Letting out a very un-vigilante-like "Eep!" Steph managed to cartwheel aside just in time. She winced a bit as the bullets tore through her cape, but was just as glad that they hadn't torn through her instead. Note to self, ask Babs or Wendy about getting the cape reinforced... Mid-cartwheel, Steph spring-boarded off of her hands and launched herself feet-first at the gunman. Her boots connected solidly with his jaw, and he crumpled to the ground with a groan. Rolling to her feet, Steph crouched and looked around, making sure there weren't any other threats, then turned her attention to the inside of the bank, where it looked like two more robbers had already encountered... someone? One of the criminals was on the ground, writing in agony and clutching a charred stump where her hand used to be to her chest. There was another one though, gun drawn, firing at a young woman who was certainly not just another customer at the bank. Steph mentally ran through the list of all the costumed--and not costumed--crime fighters she knew, but this girl didn't seem to match up to any of them. And from the looks of things, if Steph hadn't shown up when she did, this rookie would've found herself sporting more holes than a block of Swiss cheese. Ugh, rookies... Sighing, Steph strode into the bank, hands on her hips. Clearing her throat, she caught the attention of the two women, arching her brow and tapping her foot impatiently, the clicking sound echoing throughout the spacious bank lobby. "Okay, which one of you wants to explain to me what exactly is going on here?"- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - TAGGED: Gemini NOTES: None CREDITS: Thanks to BUNNYA! at Caution 2.0

Well that was... to say the least, very unexpected. Six Bad Guys taken out in a series of maneuvers that could only be classified as 'acrobatic ballet', a smooth entrance into a building after taking care of a tense situation... and she took authority over the room without skipping a beat. Batgirl... hot damn! Gem's eyes lit up slightly as she replayed the last few moments over and over again in her mind. She should've tried to align herself with the batfamily from the jump! After going toe to toe with Red Hood she realized just how badass these crazy kids really were. It turns out Nina wasn't as enthused with Batgirl as Gem was, as she pulled a second pistol from her belt and pointed it at Stephanie. Hi, Batgirl! Oh.. hold on let me just.. She took a step towards Nina, who fired incessantly at Gemini. The bullets collided with her skin before being flattened and falling off. Science? Magic? Witchcraft!? Well it was likely a mixture of all three and it made Gemini happy beyond belief that she knew a Magic Witchdoctor with a PHD in Science. Nina! We've been over this! Just... stop shooting! It gets very annoying after a while.
There was no possible way that Gem could just watch that awesomeness happen and not want to get in on the fun. As she approached Nina, the woman pointed her second pistol at Gemini and prepared to fire but Gem was done playing. Spinning on her heels, her blue hair splashed in Nina's face, distracting her. As she spun around fully she blocked Nina's blind jab with her elbow. Countering with a cross to her left cheek. As the thief stumbled back, Gem brought both hands up and swung them at her ears, discombobulating her. In her daze and confusion she tried throwing a blind haymaker, but the young hero saw it coming! She sidestepped it and pushed her arm aside with her elbow before giving a strong hit to his chest. Gem blocked another left handed swing and sent a slap to Nina's right jaw, weakening it. She didn't think that satisfactory so she threw a punch at it, fracturing it. Pulling her left arm back she hit the older woman in the chest one more time, breaking her cracked ribs. She threw a straight at Nina's solar plexus, traumatizing it before following up with a left to her jaw, dislocating it entirely. She ended the dance with a heel kick to Nina's diaphragm sending her into the wall before sending her to the floor.
Gem clapped her hands together once as her dance was completed. Not even a single drop of sweat running down her form. As soon as she found the time to breathe again, she threw her hands in the air and yelled, WOO! Surge 2, Bad Guys Zero, Batgirl... a whole frakking bunch! She accidentally sent a bolt flying towards the ceiling and when some dust and rock crashed into her head, she realized that she had better just get the hell out of there. Oh geez uh... Good people of Gotham Bank.. Batgirl has just saved all of your lives and I'm pretty sure there are at least 9 police cars and ambulances headed here right now. Any Questions, please direct it towards them... make sure this one armed woman receives medical assistance aaaand thank you for choosing Gotham National! Bye! She skipped around the throngs of people who were finally getting over the shock they had accrued over the course of the robbery. She came to rest before her brand new personal hero and let out the largest smile she could possibly muster. To uh.. to answer your earlier question, they were robbing the bank and I tried to stop them! I failed.. but then you showed up! So everything worked out well! I'm Surge, by the way! Or Livewire II, whichever you'd prefer.. I'd shake your hand but I don't want to kill you.
She was just a ball of energy! It fit into the whole persona she was channeling actually. Electricity was live, it was active it was bounding around if it could. There was nothing impeding Surge from bouncing off the walls... so bounce off the walls she would! I just have to say.. it was awesome to see you out there kicking those bad guys apart! What was that!? Like a mix of Wushu, Krav Maga and Ataru? Oh that was just... oh.. should we be leaving? Wherever you're going can I come with you? I don't feel like actually... please? The sound of sirens were getting louder and closer and she was not the type to endure questioning. Avoiding the papers would be the best plan for her right now.. she had to cultivate something of a mystique! Which was ruined by her intense lack of mystique... and her managing to complete entire paragraphs of speech without pausing for breath anywhere in the middle. I have an idea! Do you want an apprentice? I'm really good at fighting and I could get better at Crime-Fighting! Surge bounced up and down on her toes, giving off a mixture of a puppy dog pout and pure excitement at whatever the answer could be. She hadn't really allowed Batgirl to get a word in edgewise... and if she did, well she hadn't heard a word of it.
She was immensely immersed in character! Which probably explained the happiness she was feeling earlier. It wasn't like Surge to feel bad about saving the day. It wasn't like Surge to feel bad about anything! Oh... there were those Sirens again, followed by flashing lights! Yeah it was time to boogie. Surge stepped outside the building and climbed up on the roof of the robber's cars. She crouched low and channeled electricity through her gauntlets and into the car. She reversed the flow and launched into the sky, using the upwards and negative burst of electromagnetism to launch her high in the sky. She flipped in the air before landing on the roof of the adjacent building. She turned around and waved over to Batgirl. They were gonna be BFFs now... whether that blonde babe wanted to or not!

Whoever this new spitfire was, she meant business, and she had the chops to back that determination up. It could be that she hadn't needed Batgirl's intervention at all, but Steph was still glad that she'd shown up when she did. This new, would-be crime-fighter might mean well, but there was a chance that her actions could end up doing more damage in the long run. After all, crime-fighting in Gotham was tricky business, and all it took was a moment of underestimating the wrong nasty, and you found yourself in a world of trouble. When the girl skipped--( Oh my God she's actually skipping!)--her way over, Steph could only stare at her dumbfoundedly for a minute or two. Then the blue-haired ball of energy introduced herself, and Steph's jaw dropped in a display of such blatant un-Batman-like shock that even Bruce would've probably face-palmed to see it. "L... Livewire? Oh man. Yeah, we definitely need to have ourselves a little chat, I think," Steph finally managed to get out, nodding. When the girl continued chattering on--( Does she ever take a breath?)--about the way Steph had dispatched the men outside, the blonde chuckled a little and shook her head. "Uh, mostly it was a lot of luck and quick reflexes," she replied, running a hand through her hair, feeling a bit self-conscious at the obvious hero-worship. Before Steph could respond to any of Surge's other questions, the blue-haired girl practically bolted at the sound of the approaching sirens. Of course, Steph didn't think anything of it, considering the fact that she tried to avoid the cops as much as possible too--most of them, anyway--so she simply followed and watched in undisguised awe as Surge literally flew away on a car. Flew. Away. On. A. Car. "That is so cool," Steph muttered to herself before grappling up to the top of the building, landing nimbly beside Surge. "Okay kid, spill it. Who are you, where'd you come from, what do you want, and will you totally take me flying on a car sometime?"- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - TAGGED: Gemini NOTES: None CREDITS: Thanks to BUNNYA! at Caution 2.0

A chat? It had to be the name... She had picked well when she decided on Livewire. She wanted to take the moment to high five herself really quickly... but that could wait. A chat! Ooh that sounds like a fun time to be had by all. What would you want to talk about? I'm up for anything! Well anything that I know.. wouldn't want to talk about time travel and wind up looking stupid. She stared down at the ground for a moment, her eyes sliding out of focus as if she were trying to understand the intricacies that came with time manipulation when in fact all she knew about it could be gleaned from an episode of Doctor Who. That counted for both Gemini and Surge actually..
Luck and Quick Reflexes? Luck, sure.. Quick Reflexes.. maybe. But you definitely showed some immense skill there! The only reason I beat Nina up like that was so that I didn't look like a super rookie next to you!... I.. She actually managed to force some blood up to her cheeks, bringing in a sharp red blush to contrast her blue hair. She coughed to try and hide her fluster, though it should've been painfully obvious. There was definitely just a smidge more than hero worship going on there. She hadn't actually decided what to do with Surge beyond the name and the personality... maybe she had a thing for blonde saviors.. who knows? It would definitely add to her follower count on twitter.
Good thing she was allowed to make a timely and quite frankly, interesting exit! Now even if she was new to having electric abilities herself, she still understood how they worked. Electromagnetism and Electrokinesis... two powers she had to study in depth before taking on this role. She felt almost as versed with them as she did her own. She wrapped the car in an electromagnetic field with an opposing polarity to the earth, making it rise into the air. After that, another Electromagnetic field wrapped around herself, opposing the car, sent her WOOSHING! Wooshing be the scientific term for into the stratosphere. When Batgirl appeared beside her, she smiled and stepped away from the edge. Better to talk where no one could look up and mistake this for superhero clubhouse.
Okay! In Order!? My name is Leslie Willis, though I go by Roxanne... seeing as the original Leslie Willis.. well she's a baddie! STAR Labs decided to take some DNA from her and see if it couldn't be reproduced... Technically I'm Lima Whiskey Nineteen. Nineteenth clone in the series.. first one to not implode into goo. She beamed brightly as if not imploding was just a testament to her awesomeness. Now that counted Who she was and where she came from, aka the fun stuff, the rest was just exposition. She had practiced these lines... time for an emmy!
I dunno what I want exactly.. I mean I don't really know much about the world except.. well, Evil has it pretty easy? The original Livewire was kind of a bitch... err.. a bad lady, and I'd just like to think I can do some good with her name before I default back to goop. She reached up to the gauntlet on her right arm and pulled it off. The action revealed a somewhat jarring sight of an arm that had obviously been burnt. 3rd degree burns up until the edge of the gauntlets and the skin nearest her fingers slowly melting off and falling towards the ground. The SurgeBands keep me stable whenever I zap some stuff... without em... GOOP! She slid the gauntlet back on and attached it to her arm again.
She looked up at Batgirl again and brought back her wide smile. I'll totally take you Car Flying! Though.. I dunno you might wanna wear a lot of rubber? My Body can process the lightning and store it for energy later but.. I won't be able to absorb enough to keep you from harm and still get us moving... I'm sorry. Her happiness deflated and for a long moment there was a wave of sadness across her face. She looked like she was about to squeeze out a tear until she decided to stop being sad and start being awesome. We can figure something out. Honestly if you don't mind, I'd love to just shadow you for a while.. see what's.. oh hold on. She spread her arms out and clapped her hands together. The action deactivated the constant pulse between the gauntlets and essentially powered her down. At the same time she morphed her hair from blue to black and shivered like she had just been dunked in water.
Wait... oh wait.. I revealed my secret identity!! Her face fell, finally realizing her mistake. Despite the fact that it was how many minutes later? She facepalmed and failed to realize her gauntlets were still on, which essentially knocked her straight to the floor. ...save me from myself. She smiled and lay there on the ground, this was turning into a good day.

Truthfully, Steph didn't really know what to think about it. After all, she wasn't really in the circles to know what sort of experiments were being conducted at STAR Labs, or anywhere for that matter. Luckily though, she didn't have to. That was where having support like Oracle or Proxy really came in handy. "Yes, I got all that," Babs' voice said over Steph's in-cowl communicator. "It's going to take some digging, but I'll get back with you as soon as I've got something. For now, stay close to her. Wannabe heroes who take on the personas of villains? Historically not awesome."Rather than respond and give away the fact that Steph had a sort of guardian angel on her shoulder, she turned her attention back to Leslie. Steph knew that she should err on the side of caution in this situation, but at the same time, she really wanted to be able to trust Leslie. Really, hadn't she been in something of the same situation, so many years ago, as Spoiler? Besides, O did say to stay close to her for now, right? Right. Maybe a little tour of the town and some patrolling are in order. Grinning, Steph waved off Leslie's concerns over what her electric powers might do to her. "Don't worry about that, kid," Steph said cheerily. "I had a run-in with Livewire One-Point-Oh a while back, and she learned the hard way that my suit is insulated against electrical attack. I'll be fine."Reaching up, she pushed a small button on her glove, switching the frequency of her in-cowl communicator to the same one used by the local police. With any luck, she'd catch word of a crime sooner rather than later, and she and her new friend could rush off to save the day. Yeah, crime-fighting was so much better than going to class. "Alright, I'm tuned into Cops FM, all cops, all the time. Soon as they get a call, we're on it, you and me. Ready to make a difference and all that?"- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - TAGGED: Gemini NOTES: None CREDITS: Thanks to BUNNYA! at Caution 2.0

There was a lot less reaction to her backstory than she had originally assumed there would be. Considering all the variables that had to be written up and analyzed on both Gem's side and Batgirl's side... it could've gone much worse. STAR Labs was one of those... ultra ultra ultra high tech facilities that had Plan Z's for their Plan Z's. The only thing Gem had ever learned about them had come from her mother, and they were not pleasant in any capacity. 'Avoid STAR Labs no matter the cost.' 'Don't try and get in their way.' 'Don't mess with Amanda Waller.' So far, Gem had obeyed all the commandments, and she hoped that mentioning them in pitched conversation wouldn't get her abducted.
Insulated? Nerds! That totally ruined her 'Shock em and Leave em' plan. Though.. it did make Car riding a viable option. Wow... Kung Fu, Cool Gadgets, Awesome Suit... can I join the batgang? Pleeeeease.. I promise I won't be a nuisance and I cook really good crepes. With any character she inhabited, the one thing that shined through on all accounts was her dynamite crepe making skiills. Was it because she was a stereotypical french girl? Perhaps... but if you looked at the world through that lense then you were a bigot. And you have a cop scanner built in!? Kill me now.. there's nothing cooler than you. Those words actually did belong to Gemini. She was having fun fawning over her new friend, which was going to make the fall so much worse.
Laying on the ground, she let the words wash over her. It felt odd to hear them with such determination behind them.. an actual sense of good, lingering with the words. Saving the Day was just one nod away. Was this what she had signed on for? Was she getting lost in the character? Her mother had warned her about this but.. Gem never figured it would happen to her. Ready and Willing to make a difference. I know just how to get us moving too! She flipped off the ground and clapped her hands together, igniting the charge and covering her body in the electric aura once more. Her hair came back into the wondrous shade of blue as she stepped to the edge of the building and peered around. What do you know... about electromagnetic induction? She spun around to face Batgirl with a smile before pointing at the train tracks a few buildings away from her.
Come with me! I know trust is a bit of a non-factor at the moment... but this is going to be SO much more fun than Car Flying, though that is still an option. She took a running start at Steph before flipping over her head and making her way towards the train tracks. She bounded from rooftop to rooftop before coming to a halt on the tracks themselves. She pressed one foot against one of the rails and giggled at the charge of electricty it sent through her. So. We can sit here and let me recharge with the rails for a bit.. or you can take my hand and I can show you the world... shining, shimmering, splendid! Tell me pr- She realized just how far she was about to take that as she had an imaginary microphone in her hand and her arms spread wide, prepared to belt out the rest of that song. I... am so sorry. They only... disney movies.. She coughed awkwardly and turned her head away from Stephanie. Batting 1000 today..

In fact, it was sort of nice to have someone fawning over her, someone who (apparently) looked up to her. And who knew, maybe this girl could end up being a real help here in Gotham when she'd finally been trained up properly. There was always room in Gotham for another do-gooder, after all; in fact, it seemed like the city was in constant need of help with the way it kept getting worse and worse. And worse. And worse and worse and--You get the point. At the same time, she knew better than to just blindly trust someone too. That could lead to any number of difficulties, up to and including an early grave. So despite the fact that Steph was happily drowning in praise, she still kept alert, and remembered Babs' words from earlier. It was short work to make her way across the rooftops and join Surge on the tracks. When the other young woman started spouting off Disney lyrics, Steph nearly had to pinch herself to make sure this wasn't some sort of strange dream, or that she wasn't in some deranged super-villian's crazy-ass dreamworld or something. You never could tell, in Gotham... I didn't think people really did that... Spontaneously burst into song. I'm not sure if it should be filed under "crazy" or "adorable."
"Alright, Surge, I'm ready... Let's give this a shot," Steph said, reaching out and taking her hand, perhaps a bit hesitantly. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - TAGGED: Gemini NOTES: None CREDITS: Thanks to BUNNYA! at Caution 2.0

She took Steph’s hand gingerly and smiled. Treat the rails like a tightrope. You gotta keep your balance on them at first.. but when we build momentum, it should get easier. She smiled and balanced on her rail. She unleashed a couple volts, hitting the rails and causing a visible charge as far as the eye could see. Lean forward. Keep your balance but lean forward… your body is going to… well the magnets are.. ugh I can’t explain it. You’re gonna pick up lots of speed depending on how low your body gets.. got it? She smiled and hoped she was being clear enough.. the amount of lame in the air if this failed would be palpable.
She looked towards the tracks ahead of her and started a slight lean. She extended her back leg and leaned forward until her chest almost touched her knee. The process began, reacting to her electric field and the rails and it started to move her forward. She went off slowly at first, trying to give Batgirl enough time to get the hang of it but eventually she let the rails carry her off. Grinding at high speeds with lightning rolling around you like a wave… this was beautiful. Riding that same lightning with a cute girl on your arm? If that wasn’t the moment to start spouting Disney lyrics then Gemini had learned nothing in her years on this earth and should be punished for wasting her existence.
What about you, Master? That’s right. She had officially deemed herself Stephanie’s one and only disciple. If you don’t mind me asking… what’s your story? Like.. what happened in your life to make you.. just so awesome and batgirl-ish? She had to yell to get her voice over the roar of the lightning. Switching her stance on the railing, she put her other foot forward to give her a better lean into the turn. Can you hear your scanner over the sound? Also: Are you okay!? That should’ve been the first question honestly, but.. well she was Batgirl. She was doing something wrong if she wasn’t okay. Speaking of batgirls.. Gem had to wonder what her code name would be if Surge was allowed to wear the insignia of the bat. She’d have to pick an animal and the only electric ones she could think of were Eels and Jellyfish.. and she’d be laughed out of her costume for picking eith- Ooh… Train coming.
No sooner did she say it did the train horn come barreling from nowhere. She glanced over at Batgirl and smiled. She was going to jump the crap out of this train. Four cars, top speed and no brakes. Surge could easily match the speed of the train and she could induction launch off the rails and over the train.. it would be a faster ride through the city, and it would be twice as fun. Tense up! I sooo want to go up and over! This had to go perfectly.. she didn’t want to be the one to bring Stephanie’s mangled remains back to Batman.

Mimicking the other girl's stance, Steph felt a sudden surge ( *gigglesnort*) of adrenaline at the thought of what was about to happen. Sure, she had her grapple gun, could glide with her cape, had the Batpod and the Compact, but even all of those incredible means of travel felt sort of... well... normal, now. But this? This was something entirely new! Any further thoughts were immediately cut short when they started moving, then started picking up speed, then were practically flying along the rails. The insulation in Steph's suit kept her from being electrocuted, but it did little to protect her hair, and she could only image what her flowing blonde locks looked like as the static made the stand on end. But not even the thought of the paparazzi getting an embarrassing bad hair day photo of her could dampen the elation she was feeling. This must be what having super powers feels like! she thought with a mixture of excitement and jealously. It took Steph a moment to realize that Surge was speaking to her, and she had to concentrate to hear the young woman over the noise that seemed to encapsulate them. Steph frowned in thought. It was a little too early in their relationship for her to be spouting off her personal history and origin story, but she figured she had to tell Surge something, right? Right. "Well," Steph began, raising her voice to be heard, "I just sorta started following Batman and Robin around, and eventually I guess they got sick of trying to chase me off!" She chuckled, thinking that that was more or less the truth, really. "And don't worry, I'm fine! The scanner's cutting in and out because of the electrical interference, but that's alright! When Steph heard the train up ahead of them, she assumed that their ride was over, but apparently Surge had a different plan. Her eyes widened when the blue-haired heroine told her they were going to jump it, and she made sure to immediately follow her instructions. In this situation, Surge was the expert after all, and Steph was just along for the ride. God, please, PLEASE don't let me end up as a bat-smear on the front of that train today! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - TAGGED: Gemini NOTES: None CREDITS: Thanks to BUNNYA! at Caution 2.0

Well... for an origin story, that was particularly boring. The sad part was how well it paralleled Surge's story... would future generations of bat heroes come off seeing her as boring? Oh god... she was going to have to do something to liven up her story. Or... she'd have to take a picture of what was going on with Steph's miraculously frizzy hair. She took the highest definition mental picture and saved it for whatever insane prank she was going to pull in gotham soon. Maybe have batgirl rob a bank? Blow up a tanker of gas! Order a number 8 at McDonalds and not get a diet cola!? That last one... it was definitely the evilest. She could actually make a business out of taking embarrassing photo's of supers at McDonald's and the lot and puttin them on tumblr.
Interference then? This locomotive is going to solve that for us! I hope.. Her smile might've faltered for a moment but it returned with gusto as she felt a massive surge of electricity rushing through her legs. It was going down... it was going doooown. She crouched as low as she possibly could, running her thumb nervously over Steph's enclosed palm. This was going to end terribly, 100 percent they were both going to die... and it was perfect. She looked over at Stephanie and smiled as the train came around the bend.. she could hear the sound of death laughing at them.
She whipped her arm forward, unleashing a caged orb of electromagnetic energy. It landed on the tracks and Surge laughed giddily before looking over at Batgirl. Jump on it! Jump on the orb! Oh Beans just JUMP! Her feet left the rails, being propelled forward by her momentum and Steph, until her feet connected with the orb. For a moment.. a long moment nothing happened. Her feet were just trapped in the orb and the train was bearing down on them. She closed her eyes and uttered a pained sigh until the energy rebounded and sent the pair high into the sky. She exhaled happily and started laughing as time stood still, the two hanging in the air with the world hanging around them. The train was still moving along beneath them and they needed a ride that didn't mess with Batgirl's scanner.
Hang on to me! She glanced back at the train and threw her hand at it like she was spider-man. From her hand exploded a long beam of electromagnetic energy that hooked onto one of the train cars and reeled the two girls in. She was pulled in faster than she expected and landed face first on the train. Bouncing along the car for a moment, she grabbed onto the railing and tried not to laugh herself loose. It worked! By all that is sugary and sweet it worked! Batgirl! Sensei are you alright... because if you didn't make it no one will be around to talk about how awesome that waaaas! These gauntlets were amazing. She'd have to tell Robotnik to put her on the preferred customer list because she wanted every toy he ever made ever. Rolling over on the top of the train, she sat up and crossed her legs indian style.
Sensei? This has to be... my all time... favorite 1st birthday of all time. Thank you so much for giving me this. As the train barreled around the city, she became increasingly aware that she was moving steadily towards her last days with her Sensei... her last day having fun being a good guy.
