Players: Virgil and Joy (Gemini) Location(s): A Warehouse owned by MME. Rouge Plot Summary: Joy has stolen Virgil's Outsiders communicator and she calls him in for a confrontation in a closed off and abandoned warehouse
She stepped out of the cab and paid the driver with a smile. She had flown home, changed into her 'Joy' persona and hopped in a cab all the way out to the seaport. It was right by Joy's 'college' so it would make sense for her to be out here anyway. With all that had happened in the past week.. well it was safe to say that Gem's life was picking up heavily in the way of 'interest'. She had usurped a gang of international criminals, she robbed an Outsider, she had tried Thai Food for the very first time. She was going to write a novel one day about all of her epic adventures.. and call it.. 'Wonton Soup for the Evil Soul'. As she meandered into the warehouse she realized that she'd be able to meet Oprah! Oh things were definitely looking up for her... the only obstacle in her way would be getting electrocuted to death by the boy she was currently blackmailing. In her free time she had googled 'Static and Outsiders' and come up with some amazingly interesting results. Static Shock! The hero of Paris Island, lightning based powers and he flew around on garbage can lids. It was just a hundred percent awesome.. and completely and irrevocably interesting for Gem. Who would've thought that lightning and rubber would wind up dating each other? Well logic dictated that eventually it would happen.. better in real life than in some FanFic or something. She shot a quick text to Virgil, listing the address for the meet with a happy face smiley. She spent most of the waiting period, cleaning up the warehouse. A bunch of old boxes filled with weapons and what not hovering around, there was an old timey bomb just sitting in the corner. Not to mention the back room which had her mother's Armor just sitting inside. Holy crap... shoulderpads? The 80s were not kind to supers all around the world.. because Shoulderpads only worked on football players and Batman... oh and Cable from the X-Men comics.. but that dude was a tank. She pulled out two big chairs and set them up in the middle of the building. A good 10 feet apart from each other, she had enough time to run outside and make it to the vendor on the corner. She had been jonesing for some Halal all week. Metropolis had the worst food and Ivy wouldn't let her eat anything unless it was grown by the earth and not drenched in 'the chemical bile of man'. She took the slow walk back to the warehouse. Taking time to look around the area, see what was happening.. and gauge how many people would die if things decided to jump off suddenly and unexpectedly. She counted 17 people that would die immediately... and 20 that might escape if they were lucky bastards. Though luck was not on their side today! She finished her food by the water and checked the time. It had been about.. 30 minutes? He should be here by now. Dropping the container into the river, she skipped off. You're the only boy that I have ever wanted.. every other boy is trying to be you. My momma says that I should kill you slowly.. but you can help me improve. She hummed along to the song as she waltzed into the warehouse, completely oblivious to the people staring at her. It was hard enough to be this awesome when people were watching approvingly.. but for them to stare like this? It was just rude. She plopped down in her allotted seat and pulled the communicator from her pocket. Whoever was running Life at the moment was very interested in these connecting lines. That she had been at that very club at that very moment to get here? She could've gone with her whole roofie plan and made away from the situation with nothing to show for it.. hell she could've been in Jail still for shanking that guy who called her cute. She wasn't cute! She was a mixture of elegant and adorable.

Virgil was so screwed. Something told him that Red Hood was nowhere near as forgiving as Tim. There was also the fact that the Outsiders were a bigger deal than the Teen Titans. He had the feelings that more information could be gained from an Outsiders communicator than a Teen Titans communicator. In the back of his mind Virgil knew that someone had taken his communicator but he would rather it be that he had dropped it or something. Yet the harder he looked and the more he retraced his steps the more he realized that he couldn’t have dropped it. Virgil had been a Teen Titan for two years and during that time he had never lost his T-Communicator. He wouldn’t just drop it. He wasn’t that careless. Yet he would let a girl into his room that he hardly knew and think nothing of it. He would let someone who was exotic, insane and French into his dorm room because he found her attractive.
So when Virgil had received a text about them hanging out he had responded eagerly. His eagerness had been because he wanted to know what had happened to his communicator. She was the only person who could have stolen it. He also wanted to see her again for more personal reasons but those reasons didn’t matter. The second text had given him a place. Virgil had looked it up but had realized that it was a warehouse. Several alarm bells had gone off in his head but he had ignored them. He would have called in the address to Outsiders HQ for information on the place but he didn’t have his communicator. So Virgil was essentially going in blind. Naturally he had his powers for protection but she wasn’t supposed to know he had powers. Virgil had thought up quite a few reasons for having such an advanced hunk of technology. He was certain they would work. He was just hoping she’d give it back without forcing him to.
Then again he didn’t know if she had the communicator but she was literally his last hope.
Instead of using his powers Virgil instead made the forty minute walk from NYU to the Lower East side of Manhattan. By the time he got there he was ten minutes. It was mainly due to the fact that he had been unable to find the warehouse. When he finally did more alarm bells went off in his head. The warehouse had as much security as the Bat-Cave! Virgil recognized a few alarm sensors and the front door was heavily chained. Virgil sighed and rubbed his forehead before turning and walked down the alleyway adjacent to the warehouse. He glanced up and down the building before spotting red piping that ran along the side of the building. Virgil scaled up the piping and soon found himself several yards above the ground staring at a narrow window. “I need new Nikes anyway.” Virgil muttered before he raised his foot and drove it through the glass. It gave way and Virgil pulled his hand into the sleeve of his hoodie and wiped away the rest of the glass before maneuvering his body through the small entrance.
He soon found himself standing on a narrow ledge overlooking the warehouse. “Yo!” He glanced around. Where was she?

Shattered Glass? She lowered her cellphone and stayed calm in her seat. Someone had broken in.. which wouldn't have been a problem had she kept the security measures on. She was really hoping to keep her karma in the blue whenever she was in disguise but.. well she could probably explain to Virgil why there was blood on her hands. Physically not metaphorically.. All of Aquaman's oceans couldn't wash the blood from her hands. Dropping the phone into her jeans she slinked away from the open, circling around to the shadows of the floor. Jade had taught her this one, she had to use Darkness as her ally otherwise she'd... uh.. well she forgot the moral of the story but it ended with her having a broken spine. She kept moving until she was underneath the point of entry, trying to match the voice to a name. Yo? Hmm... Virgil? Oh... well that made sense. There's... there's a front door, you know. She had walked through it not but 10 minutes ago. She skipped backwards towards the light and smiled up at her adventurous paramour. It fit well into the Hero role to be adventurous, able to break into any situation without second thought or regrets... but why not lightning bolt his way in!
That would've been awesome to see AND it would've gotten her excited. Not that dating a superhero didn't already get her to places she couldn't get to on her own. I uh... it's nice to see you, Virgil. Sorry about the long time, I was out of town... and BOY do I have a story to tell you. You will absolutely die. She let just an ounce of malice roll off of her tongue with the word die. She meant nothing by it... it was just a way she had been conditioned to speak. She reached down to her purse and held it up for him to see. I uh... I have your communicator in here. She plopped it down in her seat and patted it, signalling him over. Come on over, I cleared out the entire warehouse just so we could have a pretty wicked conversation. Moving all these heavy boxes by myself.. lady could've broken her back..She smiled brightly and pulled the communicator out. She knew she couldn't accurately explain it to Virgil without outing herself... but there was something changed about her. She could've brought this information to all manner of villains. Ivy, Lord, even some from the Outsider Rogue's gallery... but she brought it back to him? It was lame to the ninth that she was actually smitten with a super. She was turning into her mother... and that just made her stomach turn.
She hiked her legs up onto the chair and held the communicator against her chest like it was comforting. She bit down on her bottom lip and tried to hide back a smile. She didn't know how to start this conversation... she felt like Mary Jane only.. less pretty. I...hmm. I think you should go first cause... that's gonna dictate the rest of the conversation, right? Oh! and... I'm sorry I took it. I was just really really... confused. I mean.. the last time I saw one of these was on a youtube video and then when I opened it.. the girl said your superhero name and then I went and googled you and... I.. I understand if you want to have me arrested or whatever I... I won't tell anyone, you don't have to wipe my brain or whatever. That was if she even had a brain... her autopsy was going to be a bag of fun for whoever happened to be on the recieving end. If... If it makes the situation any better, my story will hopefully maybe... make things less upsetting for you? I suppose? Way to be concise, De Mille... this is why you're an A+ Villain.

At Joy’s mentioning of the front door he felt a little embarrassed. He had assumed it was locked but maybe the door was jammed or he hadn’t pushed or pulled hard enough. That or his instincts as a hero demanded that he never enter a warehouse through a door. The very fact that they were meeting in a ware house had already sent off at least a dozen alarms in Virgil’s head. Yet curiosity had driven him here and so far things seemed safe. What made it worse was that Virgil already had a reason to suspect Joy for having her hands in criminal’s deeds. She did have his communicator. The only way she could have gotten it was by lifting it from his pockets or snooping around in his things. While his Outsiders communicator definitely had some perks it didn’t look particularly stylish or fancy. Which meant that Joy probably was technologically savvy or had been looking for it in the first place.
At the end of the day Virgil felt hurt and somewhat humiliated so he sincerely hoped that Joy had a good excuse. He wasn’t about to get tricked again. Virgil stepped off of the edge of the ledge and grabbed a pipe. He effortlessly slid down the pipe (a little faster than he would have liked) and landed on his feet. He had always been pretty spry; even before he had his powers. Though they certainly had helped. He walked over towards Joy as he cast an eye over the warehouse. This reeked of trickery but he wasn’t sure why. He was fairly certain that it was paranoia and as a result pushed his feelings away. “Nice place you got here.” He said as his eyes settled on his communicator. The game was up apparently. She knew his secret and now it was up to him to figure out hers. Virgil casually raised his hand and a chair flew across the room and settled down across Joy’s own chair.
“What was in the boxes?” He sat down in his seat and crossed his arms over his chest. His natural teenage instinct was to slump and get comfortable but he sat straight and erect in his chair. It was almost as if he was anticipating a fight. As Joy pulled her feet onto the chair Static reached out and with little effort used his electro-magnetic powers to pull the controller towards him. It struck him on the palm and he pocketed it. “Joy, what you did was wrong…if you know anything about supers than you should know dat we have secret identities for a reason.” Virgil stood to his feet. This wasn’t an easy decision but he wanted to nip this in the bud fast. Her explanation made sense but that didn’t make her right. That only made her a possible casualty in Virgil’s life and he just couldn’t live with that. “I think it may be best for us not to cross paths again. I don’t want you getting’ hurt because of what you know. I may be a D-List hero at the bottom of the rung but I’ve had friends get hurt over knowing who I am. The same can’t happen to you. I won’t let it.”

Burst in through a window and slid down a pole like a badass? Oh there was just no way to accurately describe how excited she was for this moment. It wasn't exactly love, she wasn't feeling that particular heart-wrencher but she felt something like... profound happiness towards seeing Virgil? She had to temper it with caution and defensiveness, as she had no idea if Virgil was going to start shooting bolts of lightning at her.. but she was very interested to see how the entire situation played out. Not to mention how she just could not wait to unleash her own secret on him. She had to be careful on how tight she gripped her purse... didn't want things to go off accidentally. Oh, you really like the place? It belonged to my mom. I think she used it for storage, though I know that she definitely rented the place out to some Mobsters whenever they needed someplace to play 'cards'. She threw up air quotes around cards and giggled a bit.
Such was the two-faced nature of her disguise. She brought attention to the sheer sinister quality of the location, making it seem like it was just some insider joke.. but in actuality, Madame Rouge had loaned this place out to people. She was here one day when they killed Crooked Nose Jiang. That was the day she discovered that blood tasted like pennies. The boxes are a mystery to me, I try not to go through Mom's stuff whenever I can.. though I can only hope that it was the Ark of the Covenant. It would make me Top Men. Did anyone else notice how amazing of a girlfriend Gem was? She put out on the first date, she was always doing something spontaneous, she bought food for her date and she made Indiana Jones references. She was gonna get that ring by Easter, hands down. Now she had planned on keeping up her carefree nature for the entire first part of the conversation.. but when he electrothingy'd the communicator into his hand, she gave off a squee of pure excitement. It seemed there weren't going to be any pleasantries anymore. Well enough for her anyway, she was tired of waiting.
Wait.. wait wait, what are you saying? I mean.. I read comics, I understand secret identities.. but Virgil. She was cut off by his ascension and his effective breaking up with her. She froze in her seat for a moment and felt something like a cold chill? It couldn't have been the wind, or any actual cold air but... inside her, somewhere deep in her very heart she felt a wave of what she could only assume was sadness. This was a first... she had felt fear before sure, anger, guilt and pain. Sadness was a new one, she knew how she could salvage this whole relationship and she knew it was a fake situation but... she didn't want it to end like that. Thi- I... I suppose, this is where I say my secret right? She swung her feet out of her chair and stood up, her full height wasn't as impressive as Virgil's but she needed to stand tall for this one. Don't um... please don't zap me for this?
She smiled apologetically and reached into her purse. Digging around for a second, she took a step back from Virgil and pulled out a pistol. She dropped her purse on the ground and flipped the pistol in her grip so that she had the barrel aimed at her face. Wait wait... here me out for a minute, I know how this looks.. I'm not that kind of girl. She smiled and took a step backwards again, cocking the hammer and raising the gun so that it was eye level. So... I survived the fall from the Balcony, right? I moved those heavy boxes by myself, right? Virgil... She pressed her fingers against the trigger and a shot rang out, ripping through her skull and sending her toppling towards the floor. She lay spread eagle for a moment, releasing the gun from her hand and coming to rest, the smile on her face fading away. She lay there for a good 30 seconds, trying to build up a dramatic tension before coughing and exhaling a puff of smoke from her mouth.
That Smarts... SO BAD! She rolled over on her side and rubbed at the rapidly sealing wound on her cheek. She lay there on the floor, her smile coming back rapidly. I'm what you call... one of those metahuman beings. I hope this uh.. puts the breakup on hold. Oh this was gonna be good.

“This ain’t a comic book, Joy.” Virgil sounded resolute and firm but he was starting to get frustrated. While his voice hadn’t elevated his slang had started to creep into his accent. When that happened it meant that Virgil was starting to get annoyed. He had been on a roller coaster ride of emotions the moment he had gotten in here. First he had felt confusion, then pity, then annoyance and finally frustration. He wasn’t entirely sure how to deal with a situation like this. As easy as it was to say they were broken up he knew that Joy simply knew too much. He knew he couldn’t exactly wipe her mind but he felt like he’d have to keep an eye on her to make sure she didn’t get in with the wrong crowd. She had come across as either insane or easily influenced. Either way that wasn’t good. Her attitude now definitely came across as clingy and while that would be adorable under normal circumstances this wasn’t one of them.
Joy stood to her feet suddenly and Virgil stepped backwards as he subconsciously took a defensive stance. Joy had never struck him as the possessive type but then again he hadn’t seen her as a thief either. He wasn’t trying to get himself killed over something as trivial as this. “Are you tryin’ to give me a reason to zap you?” Virgil questioned slowly as she reached into her purse. That’s when Virgil decided that Joy was clinically insane. She was desperate for attention and was resorting to unconventional ways to get it. She was acting like someone who was infatuated with a celebrity. She was just not right in the head. All of these thoughts were bouncing through Virgil’s head as he stepped towards her. He didn’t even know if these theories were true but she was reaching for a gun. Yet for some reason as he stepped towards her morbid curiosity prevented him from actually making a move. All he could do was take a timid step forward as she raised a revolver and shot herself between the eyes.
“Joy!” Virgil managed to shriek this louder than the sudden “bang” of the gun going off in the warehouse. He finally snapped to his powers and called upon his electromagnetic abilities. His eyes glowed a bright blue as he gestured with his right hand and the gun clapped into his hand. It took him three seconds to empty the gun of its bullets before sprinting towards Joy. He kneeled next to her. His heart beat heavily in his chest as he felt for a pulse. Even as he did so he knew just how idiotic he was being. She had shot herself through the jaw. She was as good as dead. Virgil frowned as he stared at the wound and realized that something wasn’t quite right. Her skin looked like it was melted plastic rather than-his thoughts were cut off as Joy suddenly coughed. Virgil scrambled backwards and jumped to his feet.
“What the hell were you thinking?!” He yelled. Break up talks be damned. Virgil wanted to get to the bottom of it. Healing factor or not you still had to be insane to shoot yourself in the face.

This wasn't actually unfolding in a way she found enjoyable. Though to be honest, her vision of them hugging after she healed before going out for a nice dinner of sushi was a bit... far fetched. I know this isn't a comic book! I'm just saying.. this situation, our situation could take some cues and ideas from a comic. I'm not trying to make light of the situation, I'm just... trying to work things out. There was actual concern in her voice. Nothing fake and layered on but an actual infusion of worry. She wished she could just tell him who she really was. Let him know that she actually had these feels for him and it wasn't all bullshit. "Hi! My name is Gemini and I make bad decisions." She needed a wristband that said all that.
When she stood and Virgil took a step back she felt like crap. Even as a villain she didn't like intimidating people, and with Joy's morality racing through her head... well it made her feel even worse. A second wave of feels washed over her as Virgil didn't exactly try to stop her from putting a round in her skull. She thought they had something going on between them and he wasn't even gonna stop her suicide!? She wanted to just pout and walk away but.. she had a role to play, Joy wouldn't pout.. much. As Virgil bounded away from her, she had to roll over and pull herself up. No yeah.. bullet to the face, allow me to help myself up.
She ran her hand over the now completely gone wound in her jaw and looked over at Virgil with a smile. I was thinking that you didn't have to worry about me getting 'hurt' over this secret! I'm not gonna be the Mary Jane in this situation. You're superpowered, I'm superpowered and worrying about me just isn't.. it's not required. She didn't know how to exactly convey what she wanted to say to him. I don't know... I just... I saw the communicator and I got scared. Some guy I just met is a superhero... I've been trying to hide my powers for years and years and I meet someone who knows what its like? I admit I went about it the wrong way but... can you blame me for being excited to finally have a kindred spirit?
She didn't advance towards him, for fear of him backing away from her again. If he had, she might have just broken down. I don't know what you want me to say.. but I don't want you to walk out of here.. without talking to me first. At least try... to fix what was so broken about this relationship. Or she'd be crying on Ivy's shoulder for weeks.

"You clearly don't need help getting up." Virgil retorted as he crossed his arms over his chest and glared at her. A myriad of emotions and thoughts were crossing through his mind right now. Surprisingly guilt wasn't one of them. Virgil knew he had been played. He knew that he had been manipulated but he was getting the feeling that it wasn't for evil purposes. Instead he was starting to understand that he had gotten mixed in with a truly confused and lonely girl. The idea of staying with her and trying to help her deal with her problems was something Virgil was fighting against. He didn't want her to do this to the wrong person and wind up getting hurt but he also knew that interacting with Joy for a prolonged period of time couldn't be good for his physical or mental health.
"It's not about worry....it's about trust." Virgil said with a sigh of frustration. "You stole my Titans Communicator and vanished....I'm lucky I found you. Then suddenly you have powers and you're using them to prove the wrong point. I didn't mind being with you but when it turns out that you lied to me and stole from me I realized it wasn't a good idea." Him saying that he couldn't date her because he was a superhero was more of an excuse than anything. He had dated civilian women who had survived his career as a hero. It just so happened that these women hadn't pulled any of the crap that Joy just had. Yet at the same time she was definitely far more interesting than the few women he had dated. This interest was more rooted in her seemingly lack of sanity and that was yet another red flag for Virgil.
Virgil sighed and rubbed his hands over his face. This was mentally exhausting. "We can talk...but not in this warehouse it's giving me the creeps. Is there a coffee shop or something nearby?" One would think that talking about powers in the happen in New York City wouldn't be smart. Then again it was New York City. Everyone was too self involved to eavesdrop.

Well, I guess not.. but it would’ve been nice. Her usual tone and stance had a lot more pout in it than normal. This was going in the exact opposite direction of anything she had envisioned. It was supposed to be like a dime store novel… realism sucked. Sure, in some departure from her given train of thought, she could see why he felt hurt or whatever, but she hadn’t done anything that bad. Trust? That’s what he was mad about. This entire situation was based on a one night stand... trust had never really come into it. She could see that something wasn’t adding up here… and she hoped that when all the numbers were squared off, it wouldn’t equate to more hurt.
You found me? I called you here! I told you exactly where I was going to be with your stuff. I could’ve skipped town or.. or sold you out or whatever. I panicked, sure.. but I realized my mistake and came back. But nooo, A bad idea is the overarching theme. I’m not the complete and utter villain here… you just want to get rid of me. He had to have come here with the express purpose of kicking her to the curb. There was that pain she was trying to avoid. Her first boyfriend and it lasted less than a week. If this even could be considered… a boyfriend thing. They had sex one time and hadn’t so much as said a word to each other since then. She scooped her purse off the ground, dusted off her clothes and let out a pained sigh. She would be raiding Bludhaven’s ice cream supply for a week after this.
She didn’t know how to react to this at all. As Joy or Gemini, this was a complete first time for her. She stepped around him and made her way towards the door. There’s an Au Bon Pain a block away from here… If anything we can at least end things with some bad food. She put on a smile and stepped into the sunlight. She’d have to come back to the warehouse later.. Re-Arm the security, apologize to her mother and put all the boxes back in some semblance of normality. The walk to the store was short and quiet on her end. Plopping down at a table, she rested her head against the wood grain and groaned. Relationships sucked… this whole thing was starting to suck. How did Jade make this so easy?

The smell of bread reared the ugly creature in Virgil’s stomach. This creature was known as hunger and while Virgil was tempted to buy something he didn’t. His doubt and anxiety was currently keeping his hunger at bay. He wasn’t sure how to tackle this situation. He wasn’t sure how to feel. He wasn’t even sure how to think. All he could do was sit there and fiddle with a napkin in his hands. She had a point earlier. Virgil wasn’t sure how he had viewed their night together. One night stand? Potential relationship? Mistake? The only time he had truly given Gemini a second thought was when he realized she had stolen his communicator. The lines were so blurred right now that Virgil wasn’t sure what to think.
He took a deep breath and started first.
“Look, I like you. I really do but you have to understand the circumstance I’m in. I just…I need a little time. I need to get my shit together and re-evaluate my life. I’m not sure what to think about you, me or us. This isn’t a no or a yes. It’s just me saying that I need a couple of days. I’ll call you.” He stood up and rubbed the back of his neck. “I’m not saying that just to say it. I’m serious. I’m not that guy. I keep my promises.” He turned and walked out of the store, his hand shoved deep into his pockets. He stepped out onto the street and glanced around quickly to try and figure out exactly what he needed to do now. He felt too conflicted for patrol, too distracted for studying and too emotional for work.
Virgil turned and ducked into an alleyway. The best he could do was fly around. Sometimes the smoggy air and loud noises of New York City cleared his head. Moments later he was balanced on a trash can as he soared above the city. It was times like these where he really wondered if fighting crime was worth it. He hadn’t thought that a social problem would arise from a situation like this. It just so happened that when you left the game someone always dragged you back in. No matter how much you wished you could just stay on the sidelines.

With her head pressed against the table, she sat and listened to Virgil's speech. Need to get his shit together... She was never a fan of that line... or this rapidly depressing conversation. The fun was gone.. she could still see it on the horizon, but at the moment she was both dehydrated of fun and slowly going insane... again. Right.. call me.. promises and stuff. She lifted her head up only slightly to see him leaving the store. She was alone again... alone with her thoughts... they were incredibly angry too. Whereas before there were thoughts of love and enjoyment, now all the love songs no longer made sense... all the feelings were violently whisked away.
She rose from her slumber and ran her hands through her hair, straightening it out and slicking it back until both her arms and the back of her skull were being stretched out. She kept going until she reached the wall of the building, and someone's disgusted and confused cries roused her from her stretching. She released her head and as it snapped back to normal proportions, she turned to look at the woman in question. Leave... you'll have a much better day if you just leave. But of course... the woman pulled her phone out of her pocket and dialed for the boys. There it was... ohh... there it waaas. She had lost the happy before, it was a well known fact that she had lost it, but now the happy was back.
Gem could do nothing but smile. If Virgil wasn't exactly providing the satisfactory amount of fun in her life... well then she'd have to make her own fun. Striding forward, she grabbed the woman by the waist, stretching her arm under her shirt until it popped out of her collar and covered her mouth. When I tell you to leave.. you had better listen to me. Her voice shook with a tiny ounce of rage as she stepped out of the building with the woman in tow. A surefire way to have some fun with a local gal was to light up the night sky. According to the 11 o clock news, Miss Bridget Sladen was definitely lighting up the sky. Her body was found a blaze and tied to the roof of her car, floating in the Hudson. Gemini, if anyone was searching, could be found sitting on the roof of her warehouse, watching the fire and chewing on a scone.
