Michael Jon Carter, more commonly going by Booster/Booster Gold, is anything but a typical person you'd expect to be a hero. At least, on the surface that's what he'd make you believe.
To the world around him, Booster is often seen as a man who is only out for his own good. This, in reality, is only an act. To the World, Booster keeps his image as what it was when he first came back to this time period. Michael allows the world believe that everything is done for profit and his own personal gains, giving him the image of an arrogant, self-centered jerk who always wears a smile.
Behind this act, however, is something only a few people know. A driven, determined man hides behind these pearly whites. Since his best friends death, Michael has dedicated himself to becoming a better hero and a better person. Given the fact he's been told he's not allowed to be as great as he knows he can be has made him slightly bitter and broody, but he knows it's for the best. Thanks to the return of the man who killed Ted, Booster has become even more focused and determined.
Despite the nearly conflicting natures, who he has to be/who he wants to be, Michael has the stability to keep both in check. With his natural leadership talents, charms and crowd pleasing aura, Booster is able to light up anyone he's with, while hiding his true intentions with ease, all the while letting them think he's no threat to anyone.

Due to exposure to consistent Time Traveling adventures and a life as a man in Time, Booster's slowly developed an increase in longevity and a slowed aging process.
Booster is also a naturally skilled athlete. In his time, he was billed as the best University Quarterback of the century and this wasn't just by himself. Since Highschool, Michael has kept his body in peak physical condition and thanks to his position as Quarterback, Michael's mind and reaction time have always been able to surpass a normal persons. These quick thinking abilities have translated into his superheroic life. As the Quarterback, Michael had to be a leader, and this is still the case, as it all comes naturally to him with the JLI. His charms have also gotten him out of a mess or two before, showing his abilities to sway others with nothing more than a few words and a smile.

All of Booster's true powers come from his Power Suit.
Visor Device: Built to increase Michael's audio and visual perspective. With a built-in HUD, they provide Michael the ability to target specifics threats, a view of the electromagnetic spectrum, and providing ultraviolet, infra-red, and X-Ray vision.
Legion Flight Ring: Provides Flight
Gauntlets: The most offensive aspect of Booster's suit, these gauntlets are able to produce energy blasts that, at full power, can blast through 2 feet of solid concrete.
Force Field: The most defensive aspect of Michael's suit provides him with the ability to form a Force Field around himself and a small group of others. At times, this Force Field has been able to engulf himself an entire Nuclear Submarine. This Force Field has been shown to be strong enough to withstand a punch from Doomsday, although that one punch nearly destroyed it.
The suit also provides Michael with Enhanced Durability (even without the Force Field) to the point that bullets only sting but cause no damage. Along with the durability, Michael is also given Enhanced Strength while wearing the outfit, which grants him the ability to easily shift twenty tons.

Other than his suit, longevity and slowed aging, Michael is 100% human and can be hurt by anything any other human can be. Michael's pride and general attitude is also usually a hindrance. Rarely does he admit he's wrong and rarely will he ever give up, which often ends up with him foolishly getting himself hurt. Booster is often very emotional too, when his friend Ted is brought up, and has been bold enough to even threaten Bruce's life because of this.
Even though most of his personality traits he presents to the world are all just part of an act, Michael is still a cocky and arrogant individual. This is often apparent when others challenge his words or his course of actions.

Eight weeks after defeating Mr. Mind, Booster seeks out acceptance into the Justice League. However, Rip Hunter has other plans and attempts to recruit Booster to aid him in repairing the time stream. However, this would require Booster to sacrifice his reputation, so Booster refuses. But when his certificate electing him into the Justice League turns into Hal Jordan's death certificate, Booster realizes what's really important. He drops his certificate and tells the League that he was only petitioning for membership so he could brag about turning them down.
Booster returned to Rip's lab and agreed to work for him on one condition: that Rip will allow him to change history to save some people important to him, starting with "the best friend [he] ever had." Though Booster and Rip manage to rescue Ted Kord, it is later revealed that with out the death of Ted Kord, Max Lord accomplishes his early plan in killing many of the DCU's heroes. Ted Kord then decides to sacrifice himself and returns to the time were he is killed by Maxwell Lord, in order to save the heroes of Earth. But Booster was not left alone, as Rip Hunter surprises Booster by rescuing Booster's sister Michelle right before she died in one of Booster Gold's early adventures.
It is later revealed that Booster is in fact Rip Hunter's father. Booster is unaware of this, and Rip Hunter hasn't told him.
During Darkest Night/Brightest Day, Michael was present with the zombified body of Ted Kord and the return of Maxwell Lord. During Max's return, Michael was thrust into the leadership position of the JLI, almost all to Max Lord's credit. With Max still alive at the end of their manhunt for him, Michael now must balance running the JLI effectively, being a Time Master, and letting the world believe he's only in it for himself.

The monitoring room of the JLI was dark and illuminated only by the large computer screen at the back of the room. On it blasted the words from the mouth of the man known as Maxwell Lord. Casting a shadow from the TV's glow was a golden hero who watched it intently. His eyes never moved, focused in on everything the man said. His fist clenched and his eyes narrowed. He still couldn't believe all this man had gotten away with. Not only that, but he was back to life. He was given life while his best friend stayed dead.[/b] was stopped::[/color] Skeets commented to his friend.
::Unfair as it is Sir, you must understand that Ted would be proud of what you have done in his memory. Not to mention all the times you went to save him, he knew all you would sacrifice for him. I'm sure if he could, he'd not let you forget what you mustn't loose sight of. He would ask you to not give up until he
"I...know Skeets. It's just hard. The first time in...months I was finally able to come to terms with Ted's death, then all that happens. Zombie Ted, Max Lord...It's just not-" Michael began to reply, only to have the screen interrupt him.
"--oster Gold, I assure you, he is a trustworthy and dedicated hero. Far more trustworthy than that Batman or Sup-<<BOOM>>PZZTPOPOPTZCKK" the screen began, only to erupt in an explosion and sparks. With the room now completely dark, other than the occasional spark from the screen, Michael's gauntlets slowly dimmed as smoke trailed off of them.
"....Contact Bruce...tell him we need another one of these screens" Booster commented, eyes shut tightly, both hands balled as fists. ::Already on it Sir, however I believe Mister Wayne may be upset. This is[/b] third monitor you've broke in a week and a half::[/color] Skeets replied. Booster just turned and began to leave. "Just get us another one, Bruce will understand..."[/i][/blockquote]
