Deathstroke is the definition of an assassin. He is cold, calculating, and efficient. He is extremely stubborn and prideful, unwilling to admit that he is wrong and sticking by his decisions even if they are wrong. His code of honor is a standard case of "what goes around comes around." If you do right by him, you can expect the same to occur from Deathstroke. If you hire him, he will not betray you or the contract. He keeps his commitments with the efficiency mentioned above and is practically fearless. If you toy with his emotional scars however, he becomes a vindictive and sadistic man, and he WILL make you sorry for ever bringing the matter up. He still tries his best to be a family man, keeping track of his family at all times if not living with them. He tries his best to cut emotional ties from his family, sometimes to his distress as Rose Wilson and Jericho are examples of. He will never go after innocents, sticking to his targets and anyone stupid enough to stand in his way.

Despite all his skills and powers, Deathstroke is not unstoppable. His healing factor can be outpaced if he's beaten down fast enough. His unwillingness to admit when he is wrong has led to his defeat many a time. He can be careless with his own life, relying on his skills and powers to save him as opposed to planning a way for him to save his skin quickly and efficiency.

After Slade thwarted an assassination attempt on the President of the United States, he was subsequently framed for the murder of a U.S. Senator. The man responsible had taken on the identity of the Ravager and was hunting down Slade's friends and loved ones. Eventually with the help of the Titans and Sarge Steel, Slade was able to prove his innocence, and the true culprit was revealed to be Steve Dayton, under the alias of the Crimelord, who had again succumbed to mental instability caused by his Mento helmet.
Meanwhile, his relationship with his estranged wife Adeline took a tragic turn as Slade underwent a process to gain regeneration power, allowing him to survive any wound so long as his brain is intact (this power is limited, as Slade cannot regenerate his lost eye since that injury happened before he gained his healing factor). After gaining this power, Slade was forced to give his wife a blood transfusion to save her life, resulting in her gaining a similar healing factor which manifested itself as a form of immortality. This alteration of her DNA drove Adeline insane, shaming Deathstroke into going into a semi-retirement state.
Later, Deathstroke teamed up with the Titans to face his wife Adeline, who in her insane state, had revived The H.I.V.E. and sought to rid the world of all superhumans, blaming them for Jericho's death. During the battle, interrupted by Vandal Savage and a band of villains that he had organized from recent Titan battles, Adeline's throat was slit. In a brief return of sanity, she begged Slade to kill her, requesting him to reunite her with "my... our children... " since her version of the healing factor wouldn't heal the wound, but only allow her to live in spite of it. Deathstroke refused, but Starfire shocked her teammates and Deathstroke by using a starbolt blast to disintegrate her completely, per Adeline's wishes. This was a turning point, as Deathstroke renounced all ties with the Titans as a result of this act of mercy on Starfire's part.
Recently, it was revealed that Jericho managed to transfer his consciousness into Deathstroke in the instant before his death. Taking control of his father, Jericho forced Deathstroke to murder his longtime butler, mentor, and companion Wintergreen. He then launched a series of attacks against the current Teen Titans, most notably shattering Impulse's knee with a shotgun blast, before leaving his father's body. Deathstroke has since manipulated his one remaining child, Rose Wilson, into the mercenary business as the new Ravager, in order to find and kill Jericho, using a specially-designed serum to heighten her hostility and push her over the edge; unfortunately, the process also resulted in her being driven at least partially insane, to the extent that she cut out her own left eye in an attempt to prove to her father that she was just like him.
During Identity Crisis, Deathstroke was enlisted as a bodyguard for Doctor Light, who was being chased by the Justice League. In the ensuing battle, Deathstroke nearly beat the team of Elongated Man, the Flash, Zatanna, Hawkman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, the Atom, and Green Lantern. He systematically took out every member except for GL, whom he had the potential to disable through trying to usurp his ring's energies using his own formidable willpower. Fortunately, before the outcome of this conflict with Green Lantern ended, Green Arrow stuck an arrow in Deathstroke's right eye socket, enraging him. Slade went ballistic and began to beat Green Arrow, but was stopped when the majority of the team tackled Deathstroke to the ground. Dr. Light used his powers, and the two escaped. Near the end of Identity Crisis, Deathstroke confronts Green Arrow on a rooftop. Arrow sees his reflection in the windows of a nearby building, but when he turns to confront Slade, Deathstroke is gone. Instead, Green Arrow finds Slade's cowl and a note stuck to the wall by the very arrow he stabbed in Slade's eye socket. The note reads, "This is yours - We're not done."
Soon after, Slade was apart of the Secret Society of Supervillains. Also during this time, he hired an undercover Dick Grayson to train Rose Wilson, his daughter. Slade found out about Dick's... more eccentric teachings(altruism and such). The two made a deal, Dick would stay away from Rose if Slade became Bludhaven's new protector. This lasted all of 34 hours when Slade and his allies in the Society dropped Chemo, basically a twenty-five foot tall living chemical weapon on said city. Nightwing retaliated by taking Slade's daughter away from him.
After this adventure, Slade is hired to kill Oliver Queen, the mayor of Star City and the Green Arrow. After a failed attempt to kill the archer, Deathstroke is thrown in jail where he is told of Green Arrow's activities during a missing year of his life by an inmate. Also during this time, Slade forms a team of Teen Titans to counter the one that both his son and daughter are apart of. However, this is all a ploy by Slade to give Rose and Jericho something he would never be able to give them while he was a mercenary: a family. The two became more trusted by their comrades in the Titans after being shown willing to fight their father without batting an eye.
After this adventure with the Titans, Slade attempted to use Geo-Force(Brian Markov) as a tool against the Justice League, similar to how he used Terra. Unfortunately, Markov tips off Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman to his plans and to the fact that Deathstroke intended to crash Black Canary and Green Arrow's wedding with an army of super-villains. This plan ultimately fails due to the Justice League's efforts to stop him.
Deathstroke is hired to control the actions of Damian Wayne by Talia al Ghul thanks to an implant in Damian's back. Talia wanted Deathstroke to use Damian to kill Dick Grayson, the current Batman. Unfortunately, Dick used the two-way connection between them to incapacitate Slade, taser sufficiently ending Slade's control of the boy. While recovering in a hospital, Slade is attacked by Grayson in revenge for Bludhaven and Damian. Afterward, Dick swore that what he just did to Slade was just a preview of things to come.

Cold. It was so cold out at night. Even through the insulated armor Slade always wore, he could feel how unforgivably cold it was. He supposed that he should expect no less from Gotham. Everything bad about the city was taken to its extreme. Why should the weather be any different?
Of course, the weather wasn't Slade's problem right now. He could search for ways to fight the cold at a later time. Right now, he had a job to do. He had no idea what the mayor of Gotham had done to make someone angry enough to kill him, and Deathstroke didn't care at this point. They wanted this man dead, and Slade wouldn't let God Himself stop him from doing the deed.
The plan was sickeningly simple. All it took was a man with a gun and a lot of patience. Slade briefly wondered why he was asked to kill such an easy target. For a mayor who lived in one of the most dangerous cities on the planet, his security was severely lacking. He was making a speech on the steps of city hall that day. It was even during the day-time. Bat problems were hard to come by during the day.
Slade stood atop a building adjacent to city hall, a building brought to you by Wayne Enterprises. The building didn't have any sensors on the roof, something that surprised Deathstroke given the pragmatism both versions of Batman exercised in terms of protection. He had been dropped down from a helicopter and left to his own devices. Within the hour, he had his equipment set up, a silenced Dakota T-76 Longbow on a bi-pod at the edge of the building. A set of radars and sensors in case one of Gotham's many creatures decided to sneak up on him. Everything was easy to pack up and dispose of.
Then came the awaited hour. The mayor and his procession rode up in their comfortable limousines, the press hungrily awaited their chance at questioning the elected official, and the Gotham City Police Department was on-hand to guard the mayor. The only thing missing was a cape around to defend the mayor, but this wasn't Metropolis. The mayor didn't have Batman on speed dial. Deathstroke laid down and gripped the rifle, his gloved finger lightly touching the trigger.
"Showtime."
The mayor stood at his podium with a nervous look on his face. He was afraid of something. Of course, this was Gotham City. The only people not living in fear of something were dressed up like bats or birds. Oh, and there was the Joker, but that maniac was a category all his own. The mayor began giving his speech. Deathstroke's eye narrowed. He just needed a few more seconds...
Suddenly, the mayor's chest ran red with blood, a bullet hole puncturing the heart. The politician slumped onto the podium before falling over. Deathstroke raised an eyebrow. He didn't do that. Who else was here? Deathstroke checked his sensors and radars. Nothing. No one. The assassin quietly packed up his things, putting all the sensors and radars in a small backpack and putting all the sniper rifle parts in its case.
With a quick hop, he landed on a shorter building before jumping down to an alley with nothing but a set of trash cans in it. He opened the trash cans to find his clothes and a suitcase, a black leather jacket, a black sweater, and a pair of blue jeans. Deathstroke quickly changed clothes and placed his Deathstroke suit in the suitcase. His weapons were at the safe-house his employers had designated for him. He would need them. He wasn't leaving Gotham just yet. He wanted to know who it was that stole his kill from him, and to do that, he needed to track the Batman. Once more, Slade was on the hunt.
